Extra section to Sydney last night?

Extra section to Sydney last night?
At LAX on Saturday night (November 7), the departure boards listed, in addition to the usual DL17 to SYD departing at 2250, a flight DL8815 to SYD with a scheduled departure time of 2010 (and, alas, running 3-and-a-half hours late). Does anyone know what was up with the extra section? Was the regular flight cancelled on Friday or something?

Thanks - I did look through the first few pages of the forum to see if anyone was saying anything about this flight, but I guess that thread had already scrolled way down the list. Apparently the extra flight was in the schedule and had been for a while, which jives with the fact that, had it been an impromptu extra section (such as might be caused by cancellation of another flight) that was now running 3.5 hours late, I'd have expected the mood around the gate area to be a lot less calm than it actually was.
