Actually, I went the opposite direction: I brought back some 3-CUP notes portraying Che Guevara as souvenirs. The CUC notes were definitely brighter than the duller CUP pesos. I'm sure some enterprising soul will find a way to sell CUC as souvenirs for prices much greater than their face value.

If you are able to get to Poland you can buy and sell CUC at Diament (perhaps not for long).
I have never been to Cuba but I bought some CUC in London for my banknote collection, then offloaded the rest onto those guys effectively making my collection "free".

There goes the scam in which a tourist is given change in the local currency as if it had the same value as the CUCs. I don't know how common that scam ever was, though. All Cubans I encountered were honest with me and very welcoming.

CC/DC? Probably still no.
USD cash? Very desirable from what I understand, though bring wads of very small notes ($1, 5,10, some 20s). Not sure if there is a blackmarket rate vs bank rate for CUP., and if there is still a 10% exchange penalty (which was the reason to exchange EUR and CAD).
