Why HAV is not existing? [Using OTA / booking engines to book to HAV]

I am not living in the USA and I am not a citizen of the USA and my country does no forbid me to travel to Cuba.

My problem is that most of the internet search machines or OTA like ita matrix, kayak, expedia, xxxx etc. do not know the capital of Cuba with the name La Habana.

The 3 letter IATA code HAV is not known to Orbitz etc.

As we all know there are regular scheduled flights from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Brazil etc. and of course from europe to Cuba. Are there any web search machines or OTA on which I can find flights to HAV?

I've booked flight from Europe to HAV on opodo.co.uk in the past.

US-based sites and their affiliates worldwide can not participate in profits made on selling HAV based or destination tickets as that would involve paying taxes to Cuba, AFAIK.

Read more here (US Dept. of Treasury Cuba Sanctions).

It doesn't work for me. A friend wants to travel from Canada to Cayo Coco sometime in July. I can find flights with WestJet and with Air Canada - the latter, however, redirects to Air Canada Vacations where you can only search for a specific date and not for a whole month.

So I've tried various travel search engines. Check Felix now belongs to Kayak and has blocked Cuba. Opodo (both .co.uk and .de) send an error message when I search (and, besides, they would only allow +/1 day anyway.

Would anyone here have suggestions for a flexible search website?

Uncle Sam is blocking us from going to Cuba. LOL.

I found this page:

http://www.cubajet.com/

And I found with Lifemiles from AV very nice awards to and out of Cuba.

My next flight to Cuba is DUS-VRA//HAV-BOG//BOG-FRA-AMS

DUS-VRA with AB in C, HAV-BOG with AV in C, BOG-FRA-AMS with LH in F/C

all booked with miles

Flight out of HAV to BOG with AV was very convenient. BOG or CCS are a good hub to go to Hav or to go out of HAV.

PTY is very convenient as well and PTY is a hub for AF and DL.

Dont forget all those websites are US based, thus why you aren't getting any further in your search. Try the tour operator directly for prices and then look around if you want to shop.

I've booked on skyscanner in the past.

But it would be simpler to look at the wiki on HAV and check the airlines flying there non-stop from your home country or near your home country. If the OP is based in Berlin, then Condor would make sense from FRA, or KLM, Virgin, AF, Neos, Aer Europa and several others. It's a bit more searching but hardly difficult.
