Sophisticated Guide / Driver in Havana, Cuba and Beaches
 

Hello all,

Mr. Neptuno and I just traveled six weeks with a Cuban guide who was lovely; sophisticated, well dressed, mid-thirties, spoke six or seven languages (including English) and had lived in Scandanavia for some years with his family.

We found this guide after a few false starts. We were interested in nightlife in Havana. In Havana it seems nearly impossible to know where the parties and live music are without a lot of hassle and / or insider knowledge.

The guide, Rafael, knew were to go and got us in and got us great tables. He took us around to meet prominent young Cuban artists and got us into private dance parties with actors and directors and painters.

The roads are crap in Cuba; we hired him drive our car for us. He seemed to understand that we paid him for his services and he didn't try to make money off us with commissions to homes and private restaurants.

As far as price, he gave us a real deal, very reasonable.
