Transfer from SJU to port

Quick question. I saw that the cab fare from SJU to the port is $16 (on-line) by cab, which is certainly cheaper than the fare charged by the cruise company (plus it is more personal and faster). Do I have the correct fare and does it change if you have a second passenger? Thanks in advance.

The fare sounds right, maybe on the low end, but I'd say no more than $20 is correct. However make sure the fare is negotiated up-front, as there are drivers that will take advantage of a gringo and charge what they want. If the driver won't negotiate, don't ride and go to the next cab.

Thank you for the information. I'll be sure to ask before going.

It's a set fare, it's not negotiable. There may be a charge of fifty cents or whatever for extra bags, something like that, but that's the fare for the ride, not per person. I think it's more like $19, and the extra bag charge is $1 after 3 bags, fifty cents each up to that.

It's way less then the cruise line gets, it's much easier (from the airport, there may or may not be cabs at the dock depending on how many people grab one in front of you when you get there, the wait may be a while), and it's much faster.

In addition to this, there is a dispatcher at the airport who will ask you where you are going, and how many bags, and will fill out a form for you which outlines the exact price. There is no chance to negotiate.

I thought it was actually really well organized. Got my bags, found the dispatcher, got to port, paid $20 + tip

The cruise line would have charged me $22.50 PER person!
