Costa Cruise Cancellation

My Costa cruise was cancelled.
I have been offered a 150% credit.
I want a refund not a credit and have been told that is not an option.
I paid with Chase Sapphire.
Will Chases Cancellation Insurance refund the money paid?
Costa is refunding Europeans but not Americans.
Costa is owned by Carnival which is refunding.

You paid with a CC. One of the requirements from a CC is that you receive the item that you paid for.

Costa cancelled your cruise. This is no different than if you ordered an item from Amazon and they could not deliver it. You get your money back.

Make sure you have documentation that Costa cancelled your cruise (email or letter) and then file a charge back with Chase. Sad to say but I am waiting for Viking to cancel our May 1 cruise which has no chance of happening.
Hopefully, we will not experience your issue.

The problem with a chargeback is that most credit cards impose a 90-day limit.

My vote would be that Chase will refund. They're holding plenty of Costa $$$.

That is not the only possible out.

After reviewing the law that provides consumer protection with credit cards, it appears that failure to receive the purchased item is not in itself an adequate cause for a chargeback
You first have to negotiate with the provider and show an inability to come to some agreement for compensation. Even with that, the CC company can still deny your claim.
However, there is not much else one can do other than filing a DOT complaint (which I am uncertain cruises even come under).

Tried filing on eclaim website but the dropbox for reasons didn't exactly match up with reason.
Couldn't also get past that page as had to put in a flight number but wasn't a flight issue.
Called benefit line but is not covered under trip cancellation as pandemic.

Update got thru to card benefits and filed a claim under services not rendered.
If anyone is trying to call suggest doing it at 8AM EST
