Hi All,

Going on a carnival cruise in the next few months and was wanting to use my fixed points from my barclaycard and capital one venture card to pay for most of the trip. I know that carnival ticket reservations will fall under as a travel related purchase, but I was wondering if purchasing the beverage package would be coded the same way. Does anybody have any experience using fixed points to redeem the beverage package through carnival? Also, does anybody have any idea how to find the MCC for this purchase? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have direct experience here, but I doubt the card issuers separate specific charges from travel companies
That is, if the vendor is Carnival Cruise Lines, then it would be a travel related. Just like buying food onboard AA is travel related

It’s listed as Carnival Fun Shops, Miami on the credit card receipt. I don’t have the cards you’re asking about, but think it hit my card as a travel expense.

FWIW both the Cheers package, an excursion and the spa purchase I pre-purchased with my Barclay Carnival Card posted as carnival charges with 2x points. They are also listed in my annual report as travel.
