Cruise Age

Hi all,

I have been on a few cruises with my parents but I wanted to go with my girlfriend. We are both 19 a lot of cruises seem to only allow 21+ does anyone know any that allow 18+?

My impression is that P&O cruises on some ships permit 18 and up. http://www.pocruises.com

Check out some of the european mass market ships too like Thomson. I looked around some but couldn't find the info.

You aren't going to be able to cruise. Just a couple lines will allow this (google to find) and they are very expensive. Try an all inclusive in Mexico.

i have been told by my travel agent, who had contacted Carnival and Princess, that the unwritten age to cruise fully alone is 25 (unless linked to someone at least 25 yrs old +). the cited example was a married couple who wanted to honeymoon at 21, but weren't allowed due to age. i've not been able to find the age info on the cruiseline's site, but most agents or cruiseline reps should be able to inform of any age restrictions.

You will not find a major cruise line that will book you and your girlfriend. You can find a few foreign carriers that will book you but the cruises do not leave from U S ports and you would have to book through European agents AND basically speak Greek or Russian. Royal Caribbean they are not!!!

You need to speak Russian or Greek on a P & O ship?

If you're only 19, honestly there are a lot better options out there than to go on a cruise....

I think Pullmantur would accept you. According to vacations to go their minimum age is 18. You'll have to wade through the cruise line website to see if you can verify that,

Carnival's rule is you can cruise at 21. Persons under 21 must be with someone 25 or older, although they don't have to be relatives or legal guardians. Under 21 can cruise without a 25+ person if they are legally married or in the US or Canadian military.

Actually, in reading Royal Caribbean's site, they are even more relaxed than Carnival. There is no 25+ requirement with them. Under 21 needs to be with someone 21+, for North American sailings. For the rest of the world, it's 18+. They also have the married and military provisions that Carnival has.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago when my friend and I, both 18 at the time, wanted to celebrate our graduation from senior school with a cruise prior to heading off to different parts of the world. Lines that I am aware of that will allow you and your girlfriend aboard. I've sorted them in their respective 'categories'.

Budget

Thomson Cruises

Contemporary (mass-market)

P&O Cruises
Disney Cruise Line

Expedition

Star Clippers
Swan Hellenic Discovery Cruising

Luxury

Ponant Cruises (French line, operate 4 beautiful ships)
Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Ultra-Luxury

Silversea Cruises
SeaDream Yacht Club (fantastic for a romantic getaway)

My choice from the above would be P&O if you want a solid big ship getaway, SeaDream for the ultimate luxury and or Silversea if you want something more upscale and formal.

Didn't realise you were stateside- Disney would be your best bet, but they won't serve you alcohol (Thomson and P&O will do).
