United Cruises

I booked a 5 night cruise in a Grand Suite and payed for it with my United Explorer card. I am expecting around 22,000 miles. How long after booking my trip can I realistically expect the miles to post to my acct? Anyone else have experience with this? Thanks!

curious how you are getting so many miles. Can you break it down?

Sure, I booked a grand suite for 4 people on a 5 night cruise in May. The total for the cruise was 2731.19. I got an $80 credit the next day for finder it cheaper on the carnival website-- no big deal.
I got 2 miles per dollar for paying for the cruise with my United card.
2 Miles per dollar for booking a balcony or higher
2 Miles per $1 of the cruise price

There is one other promotion, but I can't think of it right off. It came to 8 miles per dollar. I did call yesterday and the customer service rep verified that the miles posted 6-8 weeks after the cruise. Bummer.

I always found the surcharge they put on the cruise exceeds the value of the miles.

what surcharge? the only extra fee i've paid has been $24.99. UA cruises has always priced it the same as the cruiseline or less IME.

The last time I tried, they wanted that plus their fare was about 5% higher than what I could find directly on princess.com.

oh wow! i've not experienced that yet. hope that isn't a new trend for this year. i am sadly cruiseless/an unbooked cruiser so far this year, which is driving me nuts. hoping to remedy that late summer/early fall. will keep an eye out for what you mentioned.

Actually, that was about four or five years ago. Hopefully it's better now - I just haven't tried since then.
