RC first timer with questions

I am going on the sept 3 night cruise Port Canaveral-Bahamas on Royal Carribean
never cruised before and staying in a superior ocean view cabin (deck 9).

Any tips?

do rooms have air conditioning? TV with news?

best food?

Tips

Yes, the staterooms are air conditioned. The TVs in the rooms have a news channel, CNN IIRC. The food is good and plentiful. When you land in Nassua, the is a fun bar to go to called Senor Frog's. Good drinks, party atmosphere, decent bar food.

Mrs. FlyforSAP and I have been on that cruise many times.

Have fun!

Which ship?

Personally, I enjoy going to the specialty restaurants like Chops and Portofino once each during the cruise if they're available on the ship. You do have to pay a surcharge for them tho.

You might be able to track down menus for your cruise on cruiseclues.com.

Haven't sailed out of Port Canaveral before. Generally speaking however, we like to arrive early to try to be one of the early groups to get on the ship in order to beat the lunch rush at the buffet and then explore the ship.

Any specific questions?

And my preference is to be one of the stragglers and get to the port after everyone else has boarded. Granted, after the first time it wasn't that big a deal to be on board.

Depending on how long you will be in Nassau, take a trip over to Paradise island.

Go parasailing, also.

The OP is on the Monarch of the Seas, so no Chops or Portofino. But there is the sushi bar...
