Best rewards program for moderately high volume

Hi,

Total cc rewards newb. At my new job I will be spending 50+k booking travel/hotels for people and then being reimbursed, so I am looking to get the most out of potential rewards.

-is it best to get one card and just get cashback or to get multiple cards and use a special airline card for flights where you get double miles etc?
-how much do you have to spend before like a platinum amex becomes worth the yearly fee?
-are there any "classic" threads on here with basic cc info I should read?

All help welcomed, thanks in advance

I am sure there is a classic thread somewhere, but here is my suggestion:

Starwoods
Marriott Rewards Visa (if you are staying at Marriott)
Amex Plat is good as it offers lounge access so you will recover the cost very quickly.
Even with the deval - TYN is still not a bad option if you are looking for flexibility (PPE) with flight awards.
Schwab Visa cash back card if international travel.

Its really depends on a lot of individual preferences, but a combination of 3 of the above is a good start.

Charles Schwab visa card is the best card out there at the moment. It has 2% cash back. Only Starwood card comes close to it.

imo the 2% is overrated...there's too many variables to make one card the best, each person's needs/uses are different and there's cards out there for everyone...

amex-costo true earnings card may be the best for you.
4% back on gas
3% for restaurants
2% air and hotels
1% for everything else.

cashback is in the form of an annual check.

In addition to the above, you also get immediate rebates on some purchases through the open savings network. for instance your springhill check out folio will have the full price. your credit card statement will show the full price, and a seperate line item will list the cash rebate amount.
JetBlue, 3%
Hertz, 5%
Hyatt Hotels and Resorts 3%
Marriott(springhill, residence inn, fairfield, courtyard, and townplace) 5%
