First time turned down for increase credit line

I recently applied online for and received another Platinum AAdvantage Citicard to get the 25K miles. It came with a $5K credit line. I have another one with a 50K credit line. I called and asked that they increase the credit line on the new card since I normally put over $5K a month of business expenses on it and always pay on time. They turned me down, said I had to wait 6 months. I asked if they could take half of the $50k credit line on the first card and put it on the new one. They also said no to this. My credit is perfect, credit score 754. High income, no loans or mortgages, just credit cards that are always current paid in full on time. What gives?

My experience is some reps don't know how to move available credit line. Assuming they're both personal cards, call back, and a more knowledgeable rep can do it in a couple of minutes.

It is very tough out there right now. citibank stock is 1.30. Personally I can see why you want a higher limit if you want the aa miles. Right now I think airmiles have less appeal to me due to devaluing and other issues.

With Citi you cant get a cl raise for at least 6 months. You want to reallocate. Give them a call and ask about reallocating part of your line from one card to another.

1.42 - up 40% in a day! It was 0.97 last Friday. Who would have thought just 3 months ago, how low these bank stocks could go...
