A couple of questions

Hi All!, First time user so be gentle please.

I have a couple of questions regarding credit cards. This will hopefully relate to those in the Uk and in Australia.

I have recently joined AA (to do Plat challenge) as I am getting fed up with my inability to go anywhere with Qantas FF elite. I have also recently moved to the UK and have decided to take up the Citibank AAdvantage Visa for the UK. I am noticicing it is only 1Mile per pound where the american version appears to be 1mile per dollar. I thought this was a bit of a disparity. I have made plenty of miles through credit card usage over the years and am hoping to do the same. Is this card the best one for the UK? Or is there a better option here?

My other question concerns My mother who like me uses her Credit Cards like they are going out of fashion just to get qantas Miles. Thing is with the number of miles she has accrued she would get AA plat very quick. Is there an Australian Card that is involved in the AA program? Preferably uncapped. I may also take one of these up to use instead of my current ANZ/Qantas and Westpac Altitude cards.

We are both relatively low mileage fliers with my mother usually cashing in on her FF points for fliers but want to try an gain some better service when we do using our points

The only of which I am aware that considers this disparity is the Virgin Atlantic Black Card. For a very steep £115 annual fee it offers
  • 6,000 bonus Flying Club miles upon first spend
  • 2 Flying Club mile/£1 spent
  • 4 Flying Club miles /£1 spent direct with Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays

It all depends on where you want to go and how much you will spend on the card (to justify the high fee). Virign Atlantic has lots of partners on which you can use Virgin Atlantic miles to get an award ticket. For example, it appears that you can get from London to Australia on Signapore Airlines for 55,000 miles.
