GM Flex Card

Thinking of buying a brand new 2007 H3 Hummer and thinking of applying for the card and paying it using the card, planning to pay for the car cash (credit card). I saw on the website that they give you 3% back and that is why I am thinking of buying it using this credit card. They offer 0apr or 6grand back, Im probably going for the 6grand back. Anyone has experience with buying a GM car with this card?

Do you have reason to believe that your dealer will accept a credit card to pay the entire cost of a vehicle?

Generally, no matter what the sales person says, when the time comes to pay, they will not accept more than $3-5K on a credit card. Eats into the profit margin too much on this kind of transaction.

By the way, have spoken to several new Hummer owners recently. They are not happy campers. That gas tank is BIG. Much more costly to keep full than expected. Of course, Hummers are really cheap now. :)

And this may be why the dealer would accept full payment by credit card, although my understanding is that even more than the transaction fee they do not like the consumer protection rules that apply to card purchases.

In any event, assuming a card can be used to make the purchase, why choose this one? If this works in the same manner as previous versions the 3% reward is only available when you buy another GM vehicle.

I have had the 5% GM card almost since it first came out and have been happy with it. Used it on three cars with about $6500 total in credit.
