Is there any star alliance member airline credit card for US based people that does not have a cap on miles that can be earned without any status?
I used to use my delta miles to redeem on south african, but now they are moving to star alliance. So i am lookiong for a star alliance member whom I can get a card with and make my purchases with. Amex is not the best option as many of my vendors do not take it. any advice? |
USAirways, Lufthansa, Air Canada, or ANA have no yearly limit
This is as complete a list of *A Visas or Mastercards available to US residents as I can come up with.
-The Juniper USAirways card does not have a yearly cap. To quote from the T&C: "There is no limit to the number of Dividend Miles which may be earned." 2 yrs. fee free ($79 after that); 15K bonus miles for purchase; 10K bonus miles for balance transfer https://www.juniper.com/app/japply/lp/15223.jsp -The Bank of America USAirways Card does not have a yearly cap. 25K bonus miles; $90 annual fee [This card will probably be phased out shortly.] http://www.bankofamerica.com/usairwa...=cc_usair_sign -The MBNA/Bank of America Air Canada Aeroplan MasterCard (for US residents) doesn't seem to have a cap. 10K bonus miles; $60 annual fee https://wwwn.applyonlinenow.com/USCC...&mc=A00000205T -The Lufthansa MBNA/Bank of America Visa doesn't seem to have a cap. 6K bonus miles, $60 annual fee https://www.applyonlinenow.com/USCCa...&mc=A000001V6L -ANA's Infibank Visa card does not have a limit on mileage earnings. 5K bonus miles, $70 annual fee http://www.anacardusa.com -Asiana's Bank of America Visa has a 100K mile yearly cap. 5K bonus miles; $80 annual fee http://www.bankofamerica.com/creditc...at&referralid= -The United First USA Visa is capped at 60K for general members. 20K bonus miles, No fee first year, $60 after that http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...cont&mkid=60NS |
Another thing, of course, to consider is the mileage needed to redeem the awards you plan on redeeming.
I assume you care about US-South Africa awards. Thousands of miles needs for awards from North America-South Africa (Y/C/F) Air Canada: 130/185/240 United/USAir: 80/120/160 Lufthansa: 100/160/240 ANA: on South African Airways: 70/100/X [Available only on SA, so departures from USA only from Atlanta, Washington, or New York]--there are *A mileage-based awards, probably in the 90/120/170 range, depending on routing and US departure location Asiana: a mileage based system for *A travel, probably in the 100/150/200 range, depending on routing and US departure location |

Do you know the requirments from europe? |
Never available from the US? I wouldn't give up on the possibility, as there are lots of routing possibilities.
