What's the most you ever put on a Visa/MC?
 

Well, my central AC conked out completely during one of those 97 degree/97% humidity Chicago summer days and I got a new one with matching furnace, automatic humidifier for the winter, whole-house electrostatic air cleaner, and programmable thermostat. Very energy efficient, which may become more important as time goes on.

BTW, Trane has been giving nice rebates on such systems; check with your contractor if you are in the market.

Anyway, I put the whole $9000+ shebang on my Citibank AAdvAAntage MC and was wondering what the most anybody here has ever put on a mileage card?

I put about $26,000 for a client dinner on my CC a few years back at a hotel in NYC. Good for miles.

Better than those London bankers (Barclays?) that expensed something like GBP40,000 on a lunch for 6 of them or whatever.

Put $16,500 on my MC last month for the remodeling of my inground pool. Figured that I might as well earn some points for the remodel. Was suprised the pool company (Anthony & Sylvan) allowed such a large amount to be charged. Too bad the pool decking was done by a sub-contractor which had to be paid seperately and didn't take any charge cards. Oh well...can't have everything.

Biggest single item for me was an upright piano. $4K. Total spend that month was 12K.

I'll have to buy a grand piano in a couple of years...

BTW I went furniture shopping last week and most stores wouldn't accept more than 30-50% of the total on a card. One place was cash only.

When you could charge US Savings Bonds online, I used to put 20k a month on for several months for myself and my parents. I used the Southwest card, or a cash rebate card when they offered a temporary 2% bonus rebate. Now the bonds "I" type are earning 4.8 percent with no state and local taxes. So this was not too bad of an investment all around.

Not in one purchase, but frequently 13-20k per month. Last month, 25k.

And I know someone will ask how I do it.... Volume, Volume :)
