short flights, smaller redemptions
My husband has a MBNA Travelmax card. The redemption options include 12,000 points for an airline ticket within a zone. Since most of our trips are short haul this option is very valuable for us. Unfortunatly their point conversion is only 1 point/$2 spent. Does anyone know of a card with the zone redemption option that gives 1 point/$1?

Miles One/Cap One does have a zone award, and earns 1 mile per dollar, but they recently raised the zone award redemption to 25k miles. So, your card is still better than this one:
Cap One: 25k spend to get a zone award Your card: 24k spend to get a zone award. Wow .. the Miles One redemption chart is pretty bad these days, compared to the previous chart. ok .. check out the awards redemption chart for the Visa Air Miles card from Technology Credit Union. 20k (at 1 pt per dollar) for a free ticket within the lower 48. $45 annual fee. http://www.techcu.com/ How about Southwest? Do they fly to your short-haul destinations? If I'm reading it correctly, you get a free r/t ticket on SW with every 16k spent on the credit card, and SW is known for very few restrictions and no cap controls on their award tickets, however, the tickets are issued automatically when you accumulate enough credits and expire automatically in one year from the issue date. -David |
Unfortunately SW does not fly out of our nearest airport. We are limited to United, America West, or Alaska/Horizon.
