Looking to beef up Chase points
 

Hi all, I have accumulated a ton of Chase points and I’m hoping to beef them up a bit to get business class tickets for a big family vacation later this year to Europe. (Dates and cities are flexible) I’m not eligible for Chase bonus’ for another couple years so I went looking for other credit cards offering a bonus that I can use in combo with my Chase points. It looks like Citi and American Express (and Chase) overlap with Emirates Skywards and Virgin Atlantic flying club. However, I can’t seem to find any, like zero, flights using points. Is there another strategy I’m not considering. Are there airlines better than others when it comes to offering flights using points? Thanks!

How many people will be traveling? Are other members of your family credit-worthy and able to get Chase sign-up bonuses on their own (perhaps with you as an authorized user to help meet the spend requirements)?

You don't necessarily have to have enough Chase points for a roundtrip: many Chase airline partners offer one-way redemptions. You could then use other points -- or perhaps even AAdvantage miles from Barclays and Citi sign-up bonuses -- for travel in the other direction.

Three people and my husband and I can both get new credit cards and we can meet spending requirements. That’s a really good idea! I have some American AAdvantage points as well! I will look into that. Thank you!

You're welcome. Just be aware that the larger the traveling party, the harder it's going to be to find trans-Atlantic Business Class award seats at reasonable redemption rates. Your group might have to split itself up and take two or more different flights to or from Europe.
