Aviator Red to Silver Upgrade
 

Question here around the benefits from upgrading. I know the Aviator silver comes with loyalty point bonuses at certain points in cardmember year annual spend (I forget the exact spend amounts) - if I upgrade now, will my current spend on the Aviator red count towards those spend thresholds or will it start afresh at the time of upgrade?

Barclay Aviator Red upgrade to Silver for additional 15000 Loyalty Point
 

I want to get a Barclay Aviator Red card with the intention to upgrade to silver card for the 15000 additional Loyalty Points (after spending 50K) that Silver card offers.

My question is: Would the spending on Red card prior to the upgrades count toward the 50K spending for the15000 bonus Loyalty Points? I believe the Red -> Silver upgrade can only be done after 90 days of getting Aviator Red (as a new card holder)...... correct me if I am wrong about this.. If I can get the upgrade instantly, then this question becomes moot point.

Spending counts, but note that nowadays it usually takes at least one year to receive the upgrade offer. 90 days is the figure from a few years back.

Any idea what the requirements are to get an invite to upgrade from the Barclays AAdvantage Red card to Silver?
