Refund to closed CC...
Because of the recent NY weather blow up thing, I cancelled a flight and without thinking just had gone through the motion for a refund. What I had forgotten all about was that the funds used to purchase the ticket, somehow (no idea how), were travel credits from 3 difference credit cards. Thankfully, two of them, I still have; the other, the Citi Prestige I had closed.
I called the airline, and they advised that portion originally charged on the Prestige will be refunded there, though it's closed; according to them, Citi will still accept it, and I should call them for a check. I still have a CC and checking with Citi, and not sure if that matters. Anyone know how this is handled? Thanks. |
This is fairly standard. I've had funds return to expired or closed credit cards. Some will do a direct deposit into my back account, some in the US prefer to send the paper things called checks.

Wow, thanks, guys! Being a finance guy, kind of embarrassed now that I hadn't a clue how this would have been handled.
