Perhaps primarily, but not exclusively wives/women. My husband is a stay at home dad, so I've had to read carefully over the past several years to make sure that he was accurately applying for credit. For a while he had a very part time job so I could use that but the softening of the rules in 2013 was a great relief.

According to the logic raised by some individual(s) here, you should call Chase and report your reduced income and get your CL slashed. ;)

But does Chase at all bother to insist if you have a history of being rock-solid?

The Credit CARD Act offers some guidance:

“The regulations mean telling your income is mandatory on a card application, but voluntary after you have been approved and opened the account.

Of course, if you decide to skip the income question, the card issuer may not offer to increase your credit limit.”
