Groupon coding on Visa
 

I couldn't find a good answer after searching forums here. How does groupon transaction work on visa cards? I am planning to make $+450 transaction on groupon for salon related product (so not food or travel) and wonder if it's better to use 1.5% cash back or 3% foot/travel card (if groupon always codes as travel/food)?

If you aren't already doing so , you could go through a portal for groupon.

For the very rare times I use them I go through the Chase UR portal and have picked up 4x on it.

Not sure what MCC they code up under. Might depend on the offer.

Any input?

Shows as "OTHER SERVICES" on my search of old transactions. Not sure which MCC it is, but definitely not a category one. So, look for highest general category plus a clickthrough commission site.
