Coding of Merchant Code when using contactless/apple/android/samsung pay
 
Does anybody know, the four digit Merchant Category Code (MCC) is changed or stays the same when payment is made via contactless NFC chip based technology with smartphones - apple/android/samsung pay?

It does not change as you are using your actual card (or on a mobile wallet, a version of your actual card). The old Google Wallet used some sort of proxy card, but that has gone away.

The MCC should be the same regardless of how the card's used. There used to potentially be a difference back when Google Wallet supported NFC but that was due to it acting more like a prepaid card that automatically reloads.

On the other hand, that implementation did allow every US card to work (and likely costed Google money in the process).
