Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

When I declined, she got really blunt and said to the effect that 'I see you've had other cards with us and then cancelled them. That makes me think you're only opening the card to get the points', said in a very snarky tone. I do fly on Alaska Airlines quite a bit and it didn't make me feel very good about them any more.

On my latest AS business card (which I just got last month), it took at least 2 weeks after I activated and started using the card before I saw the annual fee showing up online. So "soon" may not necessarily be all that soon.

So you'd feel better about flying an airline whose bank doesn't let you get their card at all if you've opened (more than) 5 cards anywhere else in the past 2 years?

Or you'd feel better about flying an airline whose bank who lets you keep the getting the card, just never gives you the bonus again?

The bank and the airline are separate companies. The bank can't easily see (without look at your earnings on the card at the very least) whether you fly Alaska Airlines a lot or not. (And if most of your Alaska Airlines flights are paid with another bank's card, they can't see that you fly Alaska Airlines a lot at all.)

IMHO, the agent was smart if they looked up your card history after you declined an offer to downgrade after complaining about the annual fee. Yes, they certainly should have been more polite about it, but the fact that they pointed out your behavior shouldn't be such a big surprise. It's one reason some people try to talk to banks as little as possible.

I currently have two AS personal cards open. Will I be able to get a business card or do I have to close one or both of the personal cards? FWIW, I have a small business and business license.

Answered my own question - I was approved for a biz card and I still have two personal cards open, though I substantially lowered the credit limit on both of the personal cards.

Applied for an Alaska Personal card and a Business card today.

Personal went to pending; I called recon and was approved after confirming my identity.

Business was rejected. I called recon and they said my AAoA was too short (~2 years) and that "the total amount of credit extended to you by other banks" was a factor (????). They offered to give me a secured version of the card, and told me that the secured version still got the 30k bonus.

Probably going to HUCA about the business card and see if I can have someone switch me to the unsecured version.

I was denied for the AS Biz due to "too much credit extended by us and/or affiliates". I called recon and was able to get the AS biz approved by closing my BoA travel rewards card and moving that CL to the new biz card.

I did get questions about my business during recon (which I own a rental home and used that for justification). But nothing too invasive and $1500 CD wasn't required.

I just got turned down yesterday.

Background: I had two AS card in 2015, and two in 2016. one Amtrak in 2016. All accounts are closed at this point. BOA is my primary bank used for >10 yrs. currently only have one better balance card with them.

I called and talked to two different people to reconsider it. First one told me they could not open a new account for me since i had the sufficient accounts with them. I asked if it is possible to move some of the other cc I have with them over and get the application approved. Straight up no. She said she could not even open a new credit card account at this point for me, so no moving credit line is possible because of that.

I called again and talked to another person, and I requested for reconsideration. got more info from me and on hold for about 10 mins. Still no, stating in the past 24 months, already gave me sufficient accounts.

I wonder if BOA started to set a limit on how many new account people can get from them within 24 months window now.

As Personal and business, both cards offer companion fare, can someone help with following questions?
1) Are companion fare codes one time use/year or can I use it multiple times throughout the year as long as I am on same itinerary?
2) Since there will be two companion fare cores (from personal & business), if there are 3 people on itinerary, how does companion fare work? Can I use one companion fare code each for 2nd and 3rd person?

1) each code is once per year
2) the 3rd person will need to pay the regular fare. You can't apply two companion codes to the same primary flier in the same reservation. Each code must be ticketed with someone paying a regular fare.

My last AS personal card was approved in Nov 16, I am ready to apply another one. Should I keep old card open or reduce the limit and close account before applying new one. I already have chekcing/saving/other no fee card and AS business card with BofA.
