Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Recently denied for Merrill and then given platinum plus visa for Alaska card. When they refused to move any credit line I cancelled the platinum plus. Proceeded to close one business account, reduce credit limit on other to $1000, and then product change existing sig to a travel rewards and reduced it $2000 cl. In total reduced CL by $10k. How long to wait until I reapply for personal sig card? Will recent activity kick me out of auto approval?

I try to keep all my cards (not just BOA) for at least 1 yr, so that it's not so obvious?

but i dont know if the banks really care. but that's what i try to do anyway...

it used to work for BOA but now they implement this no duplicate card rule which make things difficult...

If you wait til your AF posts after a year, you will receive another companion fare, and then you can cancel, get AF refund and keep that companion fare.

Not sure if they are any use to you, but they sell for like 150-200 on craigslist where I live.

I thought companion fare is tied to the AS CC? how do you sell it?

With the above, I would guess that even if you cancel CC, but your companion cert expiration is still 10 months ahead in future, then your cert is still valid despite the CC no longer in existence?

Is the gravy train over? I've been churning this card for years and now am getting denials. Sometimes it said I was approved, but then I got letter saying it was a mistake and I was denied!

Is there some new strategy to getting approved, or is it all over?

I don't see how this works on CL since you, the account holder with the cert, needs to book the flights from what I've read.

Since you provided no details, it's hard to come to a specific conclusion about what your issue is. But in case you're not aware of the "new" reality, here it is:

Do not even attempt to apply for an Alaska personal card if you still have one open, or if you closed it "too recently" (like in the last couple days). BofA no longer lets most people apply for another Alaska personal card if they already have one (or more) Alaska personal cards open (or very recently closed).

Do not close any BofA card if you haven't already lowered the credit limit to as low as possible as long ago as possible. Credit limit that is still on a BofA card when it's closed is "locked up" (and not available to new applications) for over a year. Credit limit that you explicitly reduce becomes available within months (but we can't be more specific than that). So reduce credit limit as possible after getting the card, rather the only when you're about to cancel it.

We don't know if you also have to close your previous Alaska business card before applying for the next one, because most people are doing that "proactively" ("just in case"), and because we don't get that many datapoints on Alaska business card churning.

So the "gravy train" has definitely slowed down, since the above limitations mean some people who used to apply for many cars a year are now forced to only apply for 2 or 3 cards a year "in the right order". But it's not over for those who slow down and keep up with the changing rules (by reading this thread regularly, not just when they run into a problem).

If you have a personal Alaska card still open and try to apply again, and get the auto denial, is a hard pull done, or is the denial done without the hard pull?

Probably good advice based on most of the DP's we have, but not an absolute.

Yep - got instant approval while another one was open a few weeks ago...

I did say "most" in what you quoted. So I wasn't being absolute.

What someone who doesn't know what's likely does shouldn't be the same thing that someone who does know what's likely does. That's why my "advice" is stronger than the "evidence", because IMHO the "evidence" is "bad enough" even though not absolute.

Since BofA appears to also be counting inquiries more than in the past, I'm not sure how good an idea it is for most people to "try" to apply for a card when it's not at clear where you will be approved. (But that, of course, depends on what else they've been applying for.)

Good for you, but that's neither proof that the same will happen to you the next time you try, nor proof that the same thing will happen to someone else. We already knew there were exceptions, but as I said "most" people get denied for a new personal AS card if they already have a personal AS card open.

Thanks for the information. I definitely cancelled my old cards before reapplying. But I was not aware of the credit limit thing. The denial letter said:

We could not approve your request because you have a sufficient number of accounts with us

We have another BoA (non-Alaska) card.
