Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Cancellation Runaround at BoA (Alaska CC)

My 1 year is coming up and I don't use the BoA or fly Alaska, so I thought it time to cancel and avoid the $75 fee. Little did I know it would take half and hour and be unsuccessful.

Call #1 BoA the woman says I may lose my points and I should contact Alaska. I don't believe her, and after a 5 minute wait she returns and says "they might probably be lost" which again tells me she is clueless. (18 min)
Call #2 the Alaska agent confirms they won't be lost (2 minutes)
Call #3 BoA woman says it is 3am and I need to call back at 8am Eastern as she can't cancel the card. (6 minutes)

Interesting. Yours is the 2nd experience noted in this thread where the BofA agent went through a similar song and dance about losing all your AS miles:

I didn't know you can do that, do you send it to the same address as the bill payment?

No idea about that, here's where I mail it.....

Bank of America, PO Box 982234, El Paso, TX 79998-2234

It doesn't take very long...usually cancelled in under a week, if that's a concern.

Thank you. This is a lot better than talking to a live person that is trying to persuade you not to close it.

I have 2 templates for Alaska CC card closures and this address is the same on both, so I guess it works for both.

IDK if the CSR is misinformed or lying, but here is the real scoop. When you cancel a co-brand card with any bank, all miles/points from current spend that have not been transferred over to the co-brand account will be "lost". Any and all miles/points that have already shown up in your co-brand account will be unaffected. The only exception is non co-branded accounts, such as MR, UR, and TYPs, which have their own unique expiration policies.

The AS card is a co-brand card, which earns AS miles, not B/A points. Just don't spend on a co-brand card for the last month before you plan to cancel, as those miles/points will indeed expire. Then no need to argue with the CSR, whatever nonsense they tell you: just say "that's ok, please cancel the card". Just keep repeating that until they give up and cancel it. :-)

Annual Fee for Alaska Biz card posted. Want to close card. So, do I first reduce CL on it and after few days close it? How soon can I reapply it? 60 days?

Yes, definitely reduce the CL first.

I'm not sure anyone knows. BofA keeps changing their response to business card applications too often, and so it's hard to figure out any pattern. From the CL perspective, you'd have to wait several months for the reduced CL to be available to a new card. But at what point you're more likely to be approved period, that I have no clue, because they may change how they react to business card applications again before then.

Also, comparatively few people apply for the business card and report here what happened each time they apply, so it takes time to figure out patterns.

I just applied for the business version (first attempt with BoA) using $0 income 0y1m in business. Went pending. Called and the CSR said they're sending a letter asking for 2 yrs of tax returns (personal ok) and proof of business ownership. I explained that I'm just starting up and don't have a license or anything. Is it worth pursuing by just supplying tax returns and seeing what happens? Thanks!

So BofA is okay looking for tax returns but don't need to see Schedule C if business is just starting (i.e., it won't in the tax returns)? If that is the case, I recommend sending in the tax returns.

What business ownership information is BofA looking for? Would EIN suffice?
