Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

That was going to be my next question is about others getting "upgraded" on a recon call. Thank you!

A component missing from your understanding perhaps is that CL is not immediately freed up when closing a card. A bank may only be willing to extend XX,XXX total credit line exposure to any one individual. Even though you have closed those cards, the credit lines still remain allocated for XX months. If that is the case with her (and it appears to be the case) then their system will only automatically offer X,XXX credit for the new app. If that amount is less than 5k then they appear to give you a lesser product line that doesn't require the 5k credit line.
Carl - now that brings it into focus and makes sense. I really appreciate you spelling it out (I can be a bit dense sometimes when I key-in on something that doesn't seem to make sense).

A question for other business card churners, do you have to go through the same process again when you apply for another alaska biz card?

Thanks.
AFAIK, either not everyone has to go through this even for a first business card, or else it's a pretty new requirement. I was approved for a business card a year ago with no questions asked, and so were many other people. Then $1500 CD requirement started for some people but not for others. Now there's no talk a $1500 CD requirement any more but instead this tax return stuff. So BofA seems to be constantly changing their business card approval process, and whether's it's changing it for everyone or not, and whether they're done changing it or not, etc, those are hard to determine.

My DW just applied for her first Alaska business card last month & was approved (as sole prop. with $0 revenue) a week later without any drama.

MY DP was from some years ago. From what I've read here, I think it's become much more unlikely to get approved for a Sig at Recon when you have recently been approved for a Plat. Their new response seems to be 'we gave you a card, now stop complaining and go away'. I can't say for sure since I have not bothered with AS card apps lately due to their bad attitude. Too many other good cards out there to put up with jumping thru B/As hoops for a mere 35K miles.

Ok - I have a data point. I appreciate those that have replied.

To reiterate here are her application dates and cards:

07/17/16 Personal (canceled 3/21/17)
02/01/17 Business (canceled 5/21/17)
04/25/17 Personal (canceled 12/7/17)
08/02/17 Business (3/18/2018 limit reduced from 10k to 2k)

3/20/18 - applied for personal Signature cars using link from wiki with $100 statement credit. We were taken to a page that was titled "Platinum Plus" and it said status is pending with a reference number and link to check status. Checked the status and it said she had been declined. We called recon, they said a freeze was on her credit and we needed to lift it so they could re-run the application. We lifted the freeze, and confirmed with the agent that she was applying for the Signature card - he said "NO - it is for Platinum plus". He could not change this to apply for the Signature, so we asked him to cancel the application. He did.

My take was that she either violated the anti-churn (still aren't sure about business apps counting toward 2/3/4) or the business line that we reduced a couple days before hadn't been reallocated yet, so we were exceeding the credit they were willing to extend. I figured I had little chance of getting approved for the Signature, and getting recon to change a Platinum Plus was also unlikely.

3/22/2018 (This morning) I got a referral link - which is a bit wonky to fill out. I managed to fill it out and was approved for a good sized credit limit that seems in line with her income! Plus I get 5k for making the referral! Now I wonder if it is a possibility that the link you use could have something to do with your approval? Also, it would also seem to indicate the business applications do not count toward the 2/3/4 - if they did her 7/7/16 application would have tripped her up on the "4" in 2 years.

xxxxxxx

Business Application: My SO applied for the Business card...got a letter saying she needed to send in last 2 tax returns. She did. Then got a letter saying she would get the card if she did 1500 CD. Reason for 1500 CD was not enough credit history and no history with BOA. My SO has plenty of credit history AND personal banking with BOA for the past 15 years. We figured this was an automatic letter being sent out. Called the recon number and specialist said they would have someone call her back in the next 24 to 48 hours. Will report back. I also have an outstanding Business application out so am waiting for a letter to come in the mail with the 1500 CD and then i'll do the same process as above.

For clarity: I have 2 applications this year and 1 BOA personal alaska air card. Score over 775 and make about 85k.

My wife has had 2 BOA Alaska Bus cards (2016,2017). Applied, went pending, around a week later email for auto approval. She had closed all personal and business cards within the last 3 months.

FYI anyone looking to apply through a referral link. There's a MUCH better offer than has a $100 statement credit as well, which turns this from a $75 cost fee card into a $25 profit.

To qualify, make purchases of $1,000 or more within the first 90 days of opening your account

There's already a link for an offer with the $100 credit in the wiki. I have never applied for the Alaska card without the $100 bonus in the last couple of years.

I removed a comment from a post above re: referral (probably tongue-in-cheek ) and had to remove it from a couple quoted posts, so let's get back on topic. Happy churning.

I'd also like to know the answer here, as I was double-pulled in my failed biz attempt.

Please explain what you mean, a second pull on a different day on the same bureau, a second pull on the same day on the same bureau, or one pull each on two different bureaus?

For me it was two pulls on EQ, about a month apart.

One pull when applying (rejection), got denial letter telling me to open CD which I promptly did, then they pulled again a month later when I assume they finally got around to looking at the app. It is TU so I am not sure if I will bother fighting it as seems to be a huge hassle.

Btw I saw one report of a person successfully getting the second pull removed after fighting and escalating to CFPB
