Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.
Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.
When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.
If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.
Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.
Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

After I reapplied, with the same info, it went to pending instead of instant approval.
So I called, and was denied for the biz AS card. They want me to do a 12 month, $1500 CD with them in order to approve the card.
Should I do it?

They are not asking to confirm identity but only state the fact... i assume they did a hard pull too. Seriously annoyed...

Hmm, I was about to apply for a biz card (sole prop/SSN), now I'm unsure about it since the reports of business being too new. I wonder if just putting an older business age if it'll make it through. I've been getting biz cards on SSN/sole prop for about 5-6 years anyway...

Got a pending for a second personal card on Friday (10th). Called recon to see if they can move credit around, but the only way to get the second card approved as a signature is to take a few thousand from the first, which will kick that one down to non-sig. Rep told me to call in today at latest to move credit around. Just finished spending on the first card where the second statement will close today. Is it safe to let the first drop to a non-sig before the miles post to get the second approved as a signature?
Lowering the credit limit on an exiting Signuature card leaves it a Signature card.
It's only at approval time that it matters what your credit limit is as to whether you can get a Signature card or just a Platinum card.
However, once the card is approved as Signature card, lowering the credit limit on it does not make non-Signature.
Of course, by now it made it too late, so I hope you figured this out on your own the day you needed to know that.
(Of course, if you had been reading this thread, and noticed how people m mentioned lowering their credit limits well below $5k, and no one ever mentioned that turning their card into a non-Sig, then you would have already known the answer, and no need to ask. Which is probably why no one else replied to your question the day you posted it.)

I'd do it, provided the offer is is firm. Meaning, opening the CD = credit card approval. Be sure it's not just a slick sales job where they say something like, "Opening a CD with us for as little as $1500 will improve your chances."

Data point on Biz card
So I applied this afternoon for the Biz card:
-This is my first biz card, no pulls yet this year on my credit
-sole proprietor
-almost 6 figure income
-legit consulting business
-720+ credit
However, I didn't report business income as I was hoping not to have to prove it (it's only like 15k).
Got pending, not instant. I guess I will call recon later and see what's the problem. I had a bad feeling about it given the recent fraud denials, but figured I would try.

It definitely would be an approval if I did the CD.

Applied for the Biz card with an older (2015) date for business age. Pending. Haven't decided whether to call.
edit: I have 4 personal BOA cards (including 1 Alaska), no biz cards with them. All have well-trimmed CLs, far below what they're willing to offer me.

Call them - very easy process over the phone.
DP to flyertalk - applied 2nd personal card which went into pending. Had to call to confirm a few data and approved over the phone. Also applied the business card that went to pending. Just had to confirm few question with fraud and was approved over the phone.
Both questions were
What's your credit limit with other banks?
Do you have any loans?
Pretty much it.
