Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Even when you lower credit limit prior to cancelling, it's still not necessarily available anywhere near instantly. It's just that credit manually reduced at most takes a few months, while the credit left on the card when you close it can take over a year.

Meanwhile, it's not absolutely clear that $5k is really the minimum that you can reduce CL to. Yes, many phone agent seem to claim that, but some people have been able to get it reduced further. With just one card at a time, it might not be that useful, but you're about to close several carts, it might a bit more significant.

I've been able to lower credit limit to $1k every time.

I was approved for a personal card on 5/14, with 1 personal and 1 business account open (now have 3 accounts open). Did not lower the credit on either of those cards before the application (had about 15k credit on each).

This is my first attempt to Churn the AS personal card.

I opened my first personal AS in December 2016 and plan on cancelling it tomorrow in hopes of getting one more personal AS before I go card free for 2 years ( wife has been card free and will start getting cards again when I stop) in December of 2017. The personal AS CL was lowered to $5K a few months ago, that was the lowest they would let me go.

I also have an AS business ( $5K CL) which I use every so often but will cancel before the AF is due in December and a BOA travel rewards card ( $5K CL) which I plan on keeping as it's NAF and will help build the BOA relationship.

This seems pretty simple but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything as the above 3 cards are the only BOA cards I have ever had.

Thanks

Why do you need to be card free for 2 years? Are you referring to waiting to get below Chase's 5/24?

Chase's 5/24 does not count business cards, so you can keep occasionally churning the Alaska business card and not affect your 5/24 count.

My wife will get cards and I also get them for my dad so I am giving myself a break as FOR NOW those AS business cards don't count.

Nobody knows if they will count ( be reported ) as of 1/1/2020 when I will be below 5/24.

We will go crazy on cards for my wife for 2 years and since we don't MS we will have our hands full just making her spends as well as a card here and there for my dad.

Alaska business also has an annual fee ( not offset by a credit) and since they are no longer a partner with Delta the flights I am seeing for my routes ( MSP to BDL/TPA/RSW LAS) are awful so I have no real use for AS miles.

We are trying to get 2 FC R/t's MSP to HNL on Alaska.

UPDATE, I was able to lower my CL to $1000 so I did that today and will cancel in a couple weeks

I don't see much of a chance that the banks will start reporting business credit cards to the credit bureaus. It would a BofA decision, not a Chase decision.

But who reports what to credit bureaus largely hasn't changed in decades. Why do you expect it to suddenly change in two years?

Much more likely that Chase changes 5/24 to something like 10/48, and what will you do then?

Ie, you seem to be assuming that BofA (and other banks) may change how they report business cards, yet you seem to be assuming that Chase won't change 5/24 for the even worse (such as Amex's "once in a lifetime"?) in the next two years. Do you really think the former is more likely than the latter???

Anti-churning policies at banks change a lot faster than reporting policies at banks.

You are forgetting that my wife can get 5 chase cards ( plus just about every other card, maybe even a cap one who don't like churners) plus the Chase cards not subject to 5/24 when I stop and my dad can also get cards and we use his miles/points. Given our balances I can take a break just as my wife has since 2/2016

Obviously it would be much tougher for a single person but with 3 people and SW CP it's easy and since I have no interest in MS any more cards would have me sitting on thousands of Costco and HYvee gift cards.

A ~ 2 year break will let me get a cap one card again and open me up at every bank plus I am closing in on 7 years for some Amex cards, Gold Bus, etc

The 30K AS card is not worth it to me now that AS dropped Delta as a partner and want a $75 AF not offset by a statement credit. The flight times on AA via AS are AWFUL, I can fly MSP/BDL for 12.5K on DL in ~ 2 hours with several departures per day or use AA via AS and the one flight they offer takes ~ 7 hours assuming no delay on the connection.

Our plan is to get enough AS miles for 2 one way MSP/HNL in first, currently 80K each then we are done with AS cards.

The AA business card is every 24 months and is on my list for December 2017.

If they go 10/48 ( which is not going to happen, maybe 3/24 or 1/12 or once per lifetime) I'll use the 5 million or so points I have and get cards in 4 years............of course I'll be retired at that point and living half the year in CT and half in Florida so I won't have as much a need for points/miles as all we will need is Vegas flights.

I've recently applied for the AS personal card and I've gotten a rejection letter saying that I have enough cards with them already. I've called the reconsidered line and they stated that in the past I've had multiple AA cards applied for and cancelled. The system rejected it because there's a max number of AA cards I can apply for. I've had a total of 6 cards in the past. Anyone else experience this?

I don't have an answer to your question but i believe you meant Alaska airline AS not American Airline AA.

Edit i just counted my wife previous AS cards; she previously had 6 AS Pers+bus and got approved for a new Personal AS this past week.

She had 6 cards currently open when she was approved for a new one?
