Personal Card

AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard
60,000 bonus miles after first purchase and paying the annual fee
Offer landing page: https://cards.barclaycardus.com/card...astercard.html

The offer fine print:
First Purchase AAdvantage® Bonus Miles
The primary cardmember will earn sixty thousand (60,000) AAdvantage® bonus miles after a first purchase is made on the Account within ninety (90) days of Account opening and the annual fee has been paid. This one-time AAdvantage® bonus mileage offer is valid for first-time cardmembers with new accounts only. Existing cardmembers, existing accounts, and previous cardmember with accounts closed in the past 24 months may not be eligible for this offer.
There are data points indicating that this is not always enforced: See posts 439, 496, 514, 516, 517, 538, 835

As of Sept. 2017, most people applying for an Aviator card are being denied, "instantly" by a computer, if they already have an Aviator card open. As of Dec. 2017, most people applying for an Aviator card are being denied, even by recon, if they already have an Aviator card open. It had been that current and previous Aviator Red (US Airways Converted) cardmembers were not subject to the 24-month restriction. This seems to have changed as far as current card holders applying for a second, concurrent card. (See posts #185, 193, 194, 195, 198, 199, 211, 220, 247, 290, 527, 529, 532)

How is your wife's Aviator card history? Identical to yours, i.e. applied and canceled the 1st Aviator 2 months after application, then reapplied 4 months from closing the first one?

If you could post more details that would be more helpful to decipher the puzzles.
we both applied in June and closed in august. and replied in Dec, I was approved and she was rejected. called in and talked to an analyst and was told one card at a time or I already have a card (I closed it in august though). didn't argue.

same here more than 2 wks ago, txn posted 10 days ago, no bonus yet. first stmnt not closed yet.

Edit: I see I have to pay the annual fee for the bonus to trigger in. will update on that when cleared.

Much better, it turns out. Just used the link they gave me in the 7-10 days email to check on my app online. Approved in under 24 hours.

second card of the year, got the miles quickly on the 2nd statement. called yesterday to cancel. they had me talk to three operators. the third asked me if i opened the card "just for the miles.' i said no. she then closed the card and i asked if the annual fee would be refunded. she said the fee "pays for the miles." never heard this before. anyone else getting that?

next time go online and send a SM to close the card so you don't have to deal with CSRs.

Paying the fee is one of the primary requirements for getting the miles on this card. This is in lieu of having to put $3000 (or so) spend on the card in 90 days like the Citi cards.

Is there a consensus on when this offer will end? Closed last Red on Dec 1 and would like to double dip if possible.

The wiki says "This is a limited-time offer and will no longer be available after January 31, 2018"

Are people still getting approved, even when they already have one open, by calling Recon? I just tried applying, got the instant denial, called the Recon #, and was told I can't have more than 1 open. But I've read reports here of that being waived with manual Recon. HUCA, or a lost cause? Thanks!

Has anyone been approved for the card but not the bonus? I just got mine in the mail today (2nd one -- cancelled the first a few months ago) and there's nothing in the literature about the 60k bonus.

Log into your account. Click on 'Rewards & Benefits' and then 'Earning AAdvantage miles' in the pop-up window. That will list all the ways you can earn miles. Third on my list is the 60,000 mile bonus.
I don't remember seeing it in the lit either.
