How to Check a Credit Score without a US Address
Quick Question: I am a Canadian who has a Macy's card. I have been using it for a while for purchases and I pay it off in full every month. It has been long enough that I probably have a US Credit Report and Credit Score now.
I am interested to see if I do have a US credit score because I live within a few miles of the border and could use a general US credit card. S The problem is all the free US credit score sites (CreditKarma, CreditSesame, and Quizzle) require a US address. I used my Canadian address on my card. Does anyone know a way to check a US credit score without a US Address (i.e. with only a Canadian address)? Note: I use Equifax Canada to monitor my CDN score and I am not interested in that. Really, just looking for info on how to get my US score (for free if possible). |
I suspect that your current Macy's card is reporting to Canadian credit bureaus as you have a Canadian address on file. Once you change the credit card billing address to US, it will start to report to the US side. However, you are not able to check US credit reports online without a valid SSN. (You also cannot mix SIN with SSN) You may have better luck if sending a credit report request via mail to bureaus because they should be able to locate your file by name, DOB, US address etc.
SSN is just an index, not necessarily needed to build a US credit. |
I would suggest the OP post this question on www.creditboards.com

Thanks to you both. I will post the question over on creditboards.com.
I can confirm that it is not reporting to my Canadian credit report because I pulled both my equifax and transunion earlier this year and it was not there. I think I will have to wait until I get a US address (if ever). Thanks again |
