Time for a New Card?
I'm going to be booking a round trip first class seat on United. Based out of EWR, so 99% of the time, I fly United and JetBlue.
I can easily spend $1,000-$2,000 in first 3 months (ticket for this trip will be about $700) I currently have: Citi DoubleCash Chase Disney Visa I'm really hoping to earn miles that can be used toward a future trip and really want to get the most value out of booking this first class seat. FICO credit score is excellent (800+), so no concern there. With the new month starting, anyone have recommendations as to what to get? Not sure if a $450/yr card can be justified, but $95 I suppose is doable depending on the value the card gives. Thanks in advance! :D |
Domestic F? Or Intl?

If you're flying United a lot of the time, I would think a United card would be the best fit. Free checked bag, priority boarding, United Club passes, 2x points on United flights...seems simple enough. The only problem I see is that right now the signup bonus is 30k for a $1k spend, and this usually goes up to 50k from time to time.
Chase Ink or CSP would be a solid option too being they transfer to United. Both are great long term cards if you plan on keeping them open for over a year, and both will earn you points you can use for United much faster because of their better bonus categories. |

"I'm really hoping to earn miles that can be used toward a future trip" A future trip to where? Europe? Asia? The Caribbean? And in what class of service? Are you willing/able to fly out of LGA/JFK if needed to get a good deal on award travel? |
Europe or Domestic US. Any class.
EWR only. Trip to JFK/LGA is a trip unto itself. |
Welcome to FT.

I am not sure about your future trip. But 55K miles can barely do anything with UA. I don't want to get your hope up, but I hope you can understand it will take something you can use your miles. |
