Points Progress
Hello All,
I got involved with credit card points last year when I started using a Cap One Venture Card for business expenses and couldn't believe that 7 months later we had enough points to credit all our flights and rooms when we visited Europe for the first time on a 2.5 week trip. Needless to say we're hooked. Since December I have managed the 50k points bonus on each the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink, Barclays Us Airways and Citi AAdvantage. I figure a natural progression is the Citi AA Business card for another 50k bonus and we currently have accumulated a good amount in Cap One Rewards again. I obviously feel that we are progressing nicely, but my question is should my wife apply to the same cards so we can double the earnings? Also, what is the consensus on keeping or canceling cards once the membership fees are due? I believe a few of the cards the first year was not waived but I don't mind when taking the end result into consideration. I'm looking forward to your comments, learning and participating. Thanks |

For some cards, you can downgrade to no AF versions, but you might lose out on some benefits. Keep it if the benefits are worth it to you (eg checked bags, hotel rooms, lounge access). Cancel it if the signup bonus is churnable eg: CSP-> Chase Sapphire, you keep the UR points, but lose ability to transfer to a travel partner |
