Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.
The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Random ........ discovered today. City National Bank has a partnership with Shell, BP, and a few other gas companies to offer discounts per gallon at the fuel pump, using City National Rewards. If an option, the fuel pump will ask you if you want to redeem points to get 50 cents off per gallon. It won't say anything about City National Rewards, nor how many points it will take to redeem them. I said yes to this offer last month because I thought I was redeeming my SHELL FUEL REWARDS. Apparently I wasn't. I was redeeming 2,000 City National Rewards. News to me. I just spoke with a rep at City National Rewards who says she can't reverse the redemption and she can't turn it off to prevent it in the future. This is an absolutely offensive and ........ partnership. Nobody should accidentally redeem credit card points at a fuel pump. Completely ridiculous. I'm not using this card at gas stations ever again and I no longer feel bad about the amount of travel reimbursements I've gotten.

I ended up doing this back in November as well. I do see the redemption under my Order history, but it does not show up under Earnings tab where everything is summarized. How do we know that the points are being deducted?

Follow these steps to enjoy pump rewards at participating fuel stations:

** Single use only, valid up to 20 gallons. Any unused rewards on each purchase are forfeited. May not be valid with other offers. Rewards are earned and redeemable at participating stations with operable electronic

Follow these steps to enjoy pump rewards at participating fuel stations:
- Simply swipe your credit or debit card at the beginning of your transaction at a participating fuel station pump.*
- Once the card is accepted, the pump will display the message: “2000pts=$0.50/g?” (assuming you have a rewards balance of 2000 points).**
- Press the “Yes” button on the dispenser keypad to redeem your rewards.

Yes, interested to hear also. One person posting on DOC said they purchased a $50 AA gift card on 2/8, posted on CNB on 2/11, and received credit/rebate on 2/14. Would be nice to have more data points to truly confirm this though...
