A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog
*(other than spending for flights etc. & getting 1.2 cents each in value)

I applied in August and got approved in a week or so. As reported they asked for W2 and pay stubs. I have no other accounts with CNB.

I didn't press for the 50k sign-up bonus in the branch because I was more interested in the longer-term benefits of holding the card (Visa Infinite air discount, GoGo passes, AU credits, etc.), and I didn't want them to think I was just going to churn it. The next day, however, my banker emailed me and said that there is also a 50k bonus if I spend $4,500 on the card.

I heard that if we buy a AA GC and get reimbursed subsequently, City National will send us a 1099 so that we need to pay tax on the GC purchase. Is it true?

AFAIK, no one has received a 1099 for this.

I’m not sure what you mean by that. My AU cards have different, lower limits than than my main card.

Is there a way to find out how much of the $250 incidental fees you have left on the authorized user cards? I used a little bit of the incidental fees and now I don't know how much is left on 2 cards. Thanks in advance.

Email your manager for this!

I was able to quickly check on my 2 CNB cards for existing balance $ and also other perks w/ the account manager.
They can check usage vs total.

$250 AA eGC posted on 11/9. Credit automatically posted 11/12.

Would have preferred United or Delta but a credit's a credit.

AA returned my purchase the day after I made it. Bought $100 GC with AU card and it went through just fine. Noticed a credit and was super happy. Then I notice it came from AA. Any idea what may have happened? I also tried $200 from another AU and transaction went through. Then, I go to redeem the card and there's a problem. I went and checked CNB and the transaction never even posted, wasn't denied, etc. Any guess what could be happening?

Has anyone used the UA gift card registry lately? Every time I go to that page it says, "We’re sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. Please check back at a later date." Thanks!

The gift registry has been unavailable for at least two months and there is no estimated date/time for when it will be re-opened for contributions. If you have money already in the TravelBank, you can use it; you simply cannot add more money to the TravelBank using the gift registry.

AA award taxes

10/25/17 $155.46 x 2, full amount refunded by AA on 11/15/17
11/14/17 $131.56 x 2, full amount refunded by AA on 11/23/17
11/25/17 $89.76 x 2

These charges did NOT trigger the airline credit. They were refunded due to schedule change with AA. Since there were 3 full weeks between the first charge/refund, I suspect AA award taxes no longer work. Or perhaps the amount is just too high?

Just got a letter from CNB stating:
  1. Metal cards coming early next year
  2. $550 lounge membership credit (per account, not card) when spending $50,000
  3. Some other stuff involving black cars and golf that I don’t care about
Not planning to spend enough on this card to trigger the lounge credit though, so basically no changes from my perspective.

I got the same letter. Metal is interesting but the $550 for lounge membership is not that exciting as it's per account and not card. Essentially they are giving you 1% more as cash back if you spend $50K a year. They need to make their rewards program more interesting before I start spending on this card.
