What are mostly issued credit cards based on statistics?

I don't want to apply for new card based on this, I am just curious about the statistics. I once saw a rank for banks that issued most credit cards, but I am still curious about what are the most popular credit cards based on statistics in the US... Is there any rank or report or something?

I don't think banks would disclose this type of information, since it would be proprietary business information and they wouldn't want to tip off their competitors about what cards are successful. However, from anecdotal observations at shops and restaurants, I would say that most people use debit cards, and most credit cards are the basic rewards variety, such as the cash back cards from BofA or Capital One, rather than airline miles or points. If I had to take a completely wild guess, I would say that the BankAmericard line is the most popular credit card in Southern California.

Here are some stats that provide breakdown by Visa, Mastercard etc. as of June 2014. http://www.statisticbrain.com/credit...ip-statistics/

Sounds like what you're looking for are numbers about specific credit cards? Don't know about that, sorry.

Even through only 6.5% of cards are on American Express network, American Express is the largest USA issuer by transaction volume, accounting for nearly 30% of purchases. Seven issuers account for 75% of transactions:

  • American Express
  • JPM Chase
  • Bank of America
  • Capital One
  • Citi
  • Discover
  • US Bancorp

I don't think any of these banks will break out market share for individual cards,
