Shutdowns (other than Chase)
There is a long thread on the Chase forum about shutdowns. Other than a few short threads, and several comments about AmEx FR for total spending in excess of what they think is appropriate, I couldn’t find anything similar for AmEx or Citi or Barclays. Curious as to general thoughts about how aggressively these other issuers shutdown accounts specifically related to MS and payment from multiple sources (rather than due to churning).
Basically, I’ve been a minor MSer in the past, and always using a card with plenty of other spending. Now thinking of REDcard 2K - 5K per month on non-Chase cards with little or no other spending (to take advantage of various total annual spend bonuses) and wondering if and how quickly I should expect a shutdown. Thank you. |

Why is this thread still active? Read around a little more and you'll see all the threads. Better yet--google it.

I just saw this post about a US Bank shutdown apparently due to high MS:

US Bank Club Carlson
Our household had this rug yanked out from underneath us, despite no MS on the card, and only having routine monthly autobilled payments, and autopay for balance.
We responded with a request to discuss and intent to file with OCC and the other various and sundry gubment entities. The winds have changed, my friends- the economy is doing well, and in the most recent budget dealings there has been momentum to give the Dodd-Frank protections the ole Shaivo treatment. |
