This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

If you want, you can redeem miles to cover a portion of a travel charge instead of the full amount. For example, if you have 80k miles and a $740 airline charge, you can choose to redeem just 70k to cover $700 of the charge.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

Wow, Barclays is really getting tough on apps with MAC. In the past, you would have been more than fine. What with Chase, B/A, and now Barclays having gone this way, and AMEX giving out second cards but not bonuses, Citi remains (for the moment) my go-to best friend.

Any suggestions on easy redemption? Don't foresee any travel related expenses in near future which I want to put on barclay arrival plus card. Any easy way to encash these points?
Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I tried looking into last 5 pages but didn't find any suggestion/answer.

Book something refundable. After it posts, cancel, redeem your points. There are calculators out there, that people put together, if you want to maximize your points and how to get down to almost 0 before closing.

I have about $470 barclay points to use before I change my arrival plus to a no fee card mid-January. I've read a few places, posts and third party websites, that Delta gift cards count as travel but I can't find anything recent to confirm. Can anyone who's done this recently confirm this gets tagged as travel as I really don't want to get a gift card without being reimbursed? Or maybe someone offer a better suggestion for a use of the points I have?

This is the reverse of what I would expect. Giftcards purchased from the desktop site are billed by Delta Airlines. Giftcards purchased from the mobile site are billed by Cashstar.

I received the denial letter today. Reason for denial..."The number of bankcards opened within the last 24 months". Credit score on the pull from Transunion was 838 out of 850. In my case, 9 cards in the last 24 months was too many.

838 and only 9/24? Yikes...

Guess I won't be applying thru Barclays any time soon.

Hi.. sorry if this is a basic question but I'm still trying to figure the miles thing out. I am thinking of getting the Barclaycard Arrival + Mastercard with 70k points. Rather than do the statement credit thing can I just transfer the points to one of their airline partners? I would like to transfer to the airline and combine it with other points I have. It does not make any mention of it in the "What Can I Redeem For" section of the FAQ.

Cheers!

Mile transfers was a feature of the now-defunct Barclays Arrival Premier (I have it). The Arrival+ only offers cash redemptions.

Hopefully they'll bring back the Premier with a relaunch. I use the card quite a bit and like it very much (great for non-bonus category purchases abroad).
Iam Gmartin likes this.

Does Barclays count business cards for their x/24 calculation?

I booked a trip for the fall that we might change/cancel that is fully refundable. If I redeem the points on the trip, then end up having to cancel, will barclays reclaim the redemption somehow?

Question Barclays Arrival Plus Card: Possible to pay for Airline Lounge Membership Fees?

Barclays Arrival Plus World Elite Master Card has 70,000 bonus points for sign-up plus first year's annual fee is waived. Barclays points can be used to pay many different travel related expanses, such as, air tickets, hotel, taxi/uber, etc. But it is not clear if you can use Barclays points for paying Airline lounge membership fees. Anyone know if lounge membership fee is included in reimbursable charges?

If yes, then I will consider applying for the card and buying the Admirals Club membership and then cancelling my Citi Executive card.

Here is the link to Barclays Arrival Plus WE MC:

https://cards.barclaycardus.com/bank...te-mastercard/

Thanks.

Been 1.74 years since last cancelled card; can I re-apply and get bonus?

According to my spreadsheet it's been 1.74 years since I last cancelled my Barclays Arrival Plus card. Would it be safe to apply now for another or should I wait 2 years? I've lost track of Barclays rules. What are my chances of getting the signup bonus again? Also, are there any other offers for the Barclays Arrival other than the 70K points for 5K spend. Not sure I'm going to be able to meet a 5K spend in 3 months.
