Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.
You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.
If you want, you can redeem miles to cover a portion of a travel charge instead of the full amount. For example, if you have 80k miles and a $740 airline charge, you can choose to redeem just 70k to cover $700 of the charge.
You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.
This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.
If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

"Declined" means declined. It will follow in a week with a written explanation. They now seem to decline without a hard pull, if the reason is hitting their limit for this one product.
I'm only curious now if that limit is one hard number, or some kind of a formula involving the velocity of apps as well.

Now I am curious whether the previous app (auto-declined) might have somehow reset some kind of auto-denial clock by tripping what you suspect is another component: app velocity. I've seen recent data points on people having successfully churned the + after a couple of months even with a high nr of recent apps in the last year, so this coupled with not many new accounts for me in the last year + pretty good fico score makes me believe the recent app did me in. Perhaps they added the app velocity component to their system to weed out us/churners.
I was going to call recon, but really wanted to try to get two of their cards with one pull so perhaps will move on to some other cards and try in a few months. At that time there will be more new accounts, which is something they don't like, but yeah it seems I've hit some kind of Barclays wall.

There seems to be more denial DP in this thread lately. It'd be nice to crack their formula, if there is one. What should we include in the DP's here: the total number of A+ accounts, number of apps / year, time since the last app, any ideas?
Btw, applying for other Barclays cards might not be a bad idea -- they even suggested as much in one A+ denial letter.

As far as DP reporting, I'd also include whether or not you have a current Barclays card, if so how many, also total nr of times you've churned Arrival+ and also whether you've churned other Barclay cards.

I was approved Dec. last year for an A+, in May for an LH card and in July for a Red Aviator card. Not sure where you got this information.

I was approved for an A+ Dec. last year and closed it about 3 weeks ago. Should I apply again this month? I was approved for an LH card in May and Red Aviator in July.

I am on my 4th A+ card. I wait at least 4 mos before applying and keep it the rest of the year.

Worked with refundable hotels as of a few days ago. In the past 2 days however, none of my hotels.com purchases are showing as available for redemption...even though none have been refunded and are all $100+. I wonder if anyone else is seeing this? Hopefully just a glitch.
