This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

Regarding official company representatives
Note that there is an official procedure for company representatives to register themselves with the FlyerTalk Community Director and verify their credentials. When that process is completed, the username will turn green in posts, rather than the standard blue.

Anyone who does not appear in green has not followed this procedure. Those posts should be considered the same as any other user's posts. It is important to remember that the moderation team does not generally monitor the veracity of any posts; it is up to you to judge a poster's content and history yourself.

Update for you guys.

1/24. I had the Arrivals+ card about 3 years ago. 800 score, no dings/flags/balances on CR.

Applied today. Went to pending. No instant approval. We'll see what happens. It MAY have been my Transunion was frozen and I just unfroze it earlier that day. Hopefully goes through but we'll see. I might give them a call tomorrow....

Great. Thanks for the contribution...let's see if they give bonuses to guys like us who are out of the 24mo window but have had the card years back.....

Yeah let's keep track of these.

I just applied but it went pending. Hopefully I get approved but we'll see.....

When you have a Credit Freeze. The lender has to contact you on the telephone number of record and verify your identity by asking a series of questions.

Ah ok, that makes sense.

DP: Just called in this morning, verified a couple of addresses, approved over the phone.

Now we'll see hopefully the bonus posts once I meet spend. Will update when/if that happens!

The Gas and Water Companies only charge about $1.95 processing fee so you can pay as much as you want on your bill. The Electric Companies will only let you pay the amount of the billed and charge the $1.95 processing fee.

Telephone bills, Cell Phone bills, Internet bills, Office Supplies purchased at Staples, Office Depot or similar type stores it is better to use the Chase Ink Card that give 5 Points per dollars on all charges from any of those vendors and 2 points per dollar on gasoline purchases.

This language scares me:
Quote:Bonus Miles:Primary Cardmembers will earn 70,000 bonus miles if you use your new credit card account to make $5,000 in Net Purchases within ninety (90) days of your credit card account being opened. This one-time 70,000 miles offer is valid for first-time cardmembers with new accounts only. Existing cardmembers and existing accounts are not eligible for this offer. This is a limited time offer and may be cancelled at any time without notice.
I don't see this language in the T&C. Did they take this out?

Also - (assuming above quote is not true) I can't find the answer to this: I had the Arrival Plus about 6 years ago. 3 years ago I downgraded to basic Arrival. Since I have the regular Arrival currently, will that stop me from being approved and getting bonus again fro Arrival Plus.

Indeed looks like they have changed the wording a bit. And now it says you "may" not be eligible if you have had this card before.

I am waiting for my card to arrive next week and once the spend is met, which for me i can do essentially immediately, I'll see if the bonus posts.....should be lot of data points rolling on people who have had this card before (like myself and many here) to see if they do get the bonus

Mom who is retired was 6/24 and got denied for too many accounts opened in the last 24 months. Husband who has good income and was 7/24 was auto approved. Was nervous he’d be denied but enough data points seemed to indicate there’s no hard 6/24 so decided to give it a try.

You know if they are married she can use the total household income when applying, and not just her retirement income, right? They should have both been applying with the same income numbers.

Probably. Turo probably codes in the travel category. You can always call Barclays and talk to someone or call Turo and see how their CC coding is done.

Oh, so I meant my husband, not my mom's husband. My dad is under 6/24 and will probably apply for the Barclay's card. I actually never thought about using total household income when I apply. My husband and I just apply using our separate incomes. Do most people use household income?

Just applied for this card at 16/24 and received a pending notification on the application status. Will I be approved? Should I call in?

Income is almost 6 figures, FICO around 750 with no open Barclays cards, but have had 2 Aviator Reds (both closed) in last 24 months.

EDIT: Update - approved at 16/24 with a 12.5K credit line! Apparently you can get approved being over 6/24.

Congratulations! Good to know Barclays' rule isn't absolute like Chase's 5/24.
