This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

Regarding official company representatives
Note that there is an official procedure for company representatives to register themselves with the FlyerTalk Community Director and verify their credentials. When that process is completed, the username will turn green in posts, rather than the standard blue.

Anyone who does not appear in green has not followed this procedure. Those posts should be considered the same as any other user's posts. It is important to remember that the moderation team does not generally monitor the veracity of any posts; it is up to you to judge a poster's content and history yourself.

Got declined in early Feb. Rang Barclay and asked why. They said they needed the front and back of my SS card, driver's license and bank statement.

Faxed the aforementioned documents to 1-866-836-9595 with my application number written on every page on Feb 11. After 2 weeks have passed without updates, I rang 1-866-469-5977 to check on the progress. The CS Rep said due to security issues, a different department handles the documentation verification progress and they can't see whether or not the doc verification department has already received it. The document verification doesn't have a phone number where I could call to check up on the progress.

So I took the CS Rep's advice and re-faxed my documents on Feb 26. I'm still waiting for an answer.

If any of you has done this before, how long did it take to get an answer?

Should I just mail my documents to:
Customer Security
P.O. Box 8834
Wilmington, DE 19899

If I decide to later mail it, would you suggest certified mail?

Any recent DPs of someone who previously cancelled their A+ being approved for a new one? And if so, how long did you wait between apps?

I would like to follow up on this question. I see a lot of people using this card multiple times, but I just went to the website to sign up and read this verbiage:

3 Bonus Miles: Cardmembers will earn 40,000 bonus miles if you use your new credit card account to make $3,000 in Net Purchases within ninety (90) days of your credit card account being opened. This one-time 40,000 miles offer is valid for first-time cardmembers with new accounts only. Existing cardmembers and existing accounts are not eligible for this offer. This offer may be canceled at any time without notice.

So, is that new, or do they just say that to dissuade people and I can still get the points (it has been a year since I last closed my account).

Right, better to let barclays be barclays. According to their terms it isn't possible to get another bonus. So don't try it .

I'm going to apply for another Arrival ( my 4th I think) around mid May. I'll post back with the exact timeline of when I cancelled my last Arrival and if I'm approved.

I haven't applied for any cards in 2018 as I'm going card free ( except this one last card, Arrival or if denied another Citi AA) until late 2019.

My wife started getting cards again in late 2017.

All the Arrival links seem to be dead, I can't find a working link anywhere so it seems my next card will be another 70K AA

When I looked on 3/15, it was absent from the main Barclaycard comparison page, but I was able to follow some links from bloggers.

(ended up applying for Aviator instead -- maybe a mistake)

I have seen the links disappear in the past and often when they return they have a better signup bonus.

Unfortunately I'm ready for my next spend now so I could not wait and opted for another 70k AA
