This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

If you want, you can redeem miles to cover a portion of a travel charge instead of the full amount. For example, if you have 80k miles and a $740 airline charge, you can choose to redeem just 70k to cover $700 of the charge.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

No, this would have been my first time doing so (and only my second redemption). I explained to him I was only going to cancel IF the deal on Costco Travel got better than what I booked, since in order to get the better deal, I have to cancel and rebook.

I'm just waiting as long as I can to redeem them and watching the price of the trip in case it gets lower. Not worth taking the chance.

Called on Saturday to cancel my Arrival+ and transfer the credit line to my Aviator card. CSR was friendly and didn't even try to convince me to keep the account open. He just mentioned that he'd "been dealing with a lot of these calls" the past few days.

The annual fee posted to my account back in May, but they were still able to issue an $89 credit when I closed the account since I was within the 60-day grace period. I checked my rewards redemption history one last time and was pleased to see that I had redeemed for over $1,000 in travel expenses over the past year. Not bad, considering I didn't pay the annual fee. Just disappointed that it had to come to an end.

I bought a SW ticket for $218 and I have 11000+ pts which I am trying to redeem for full credit against $218 charge but only option I am seeing is $50, $75 or $100, not the full $110, is this normal? I used to redeem pretty much any amount as long as it was over $25. Sorry if this is silly question, haven't redeemed my miles for quite some time.

You can only redeem in $25 increments unless you have enough points to cover the entire charge.

Has anyone had any recent success churning this card (and getting the bonus a second time)? There are posts from last year and earlier this year indicating that the card is churn-able, but I'm trying to find out if that is still the case, particularly in light of the recent revamp of this card's benefits program.

Did anybody have a success to get Tripitpro subscription benefit honored by Barclays for existing cardholders? I got my card in February 2015 and forgot to activate a TripItpro. Now, Barclays claim that this benefit is not available for all cardmembers. Can they do it? I thought in first year banks cannot change terms and benefits of the card?

I got my 2nd one (and received the bonus miles for it) in late June before it went offline. Not sure if that's recent enough for you.

How soon before that was your prior card? Did you cancel you prior card? Also, when you log onto Barclay's website, does your account profile show both cards? (I cancelled my prior Barclay card months ago but it still shows up in my account profile as a closed account)

Having the closed accounts show up (mine do from January and March closings) is a big benefit for reviewing transaction history and reprinting statements.

I got my first card in November 2013. Cancelled that card in February 2015. My cancelled card does show up online.

A few days ago I applied and was instantly approved for the new arrival+ card. To this day however I never got an approval e-mail and the new account is not showing in my online profile as it would have in the past. When I check the application status it shows Approved and the credit line but not the date. There is no new account in my credit report either. I really don't want to call and risk denial. It has now been over a week. How normal is that?
