BofA Platinum Plus Conversion

I have an old BofA Platinum Plus Visa that I kept in the sock drawer. No rewards but it was one of my oldest cards(1994) and has a 7.24% APR. Got a notice that the card would have a new name but keep current APR. Logged on to online banking and see that it has been converted to a 1-2-3 Rewards Signature Visa. I'm guessing all of these cards will be converted as well.

Interesting. My husband has one of these as well, it used to be a Georgia Tech alumni card until CapOne got that business. Now it's the boring old Plat Plus but same as you, it's his oldest card (goes back to 1998). I just logged in to his account and it still shows it being a Plat Plus.

Did you get an email or snail mail?

Ahh, when I just logged out of the system it brought up a page that says that card is eligible for a free upgrade to the Cash Rewards card. It says "Upgrade now with just one click." I'm nervous if I do that though it will be a new account and not show it as of 1998.

In all my experience with BoA, switching card types does not have any impact on the account age. Their cash back card is fine, not really any better or worse than other CB cards. I actually went ahead and switched my card to a Better Balance Rewards card, which gives me $30/quarter back regardless of how much I spend. And you can do this all through chat.

I also had a BoA visa that got converted to 1-2-3. But I think for most FT folks, Travel Rewards is a better deal. It gives 1.5% (+ annual bonus w/ BoA checking), no FTF, and comes w/ EMV.

The Better Balance Rewards is also good for a rarely used card. But I got the TR since BBR has no visa signature version.
