To clarify, these are the standard offers for the new card that replaces the Barclays card.

Issued by Comenity Bank, so at least that's something.

There are targeted offers out there for 5k more points but they seem to be tightly targeted.

To be fair one would imagine that is the point of the card from Virgin's standpoint...

The AF is $149 on the premium, and $49 on the standard.

Not only that, but it carries a 3% FTF even on the $149 card, and you have to spend $10k for 5000 status miles (so $30K for the 15,000 status miles).

This is probably the most unappealing card out there, and I fly VX exclusively for domestic.

According to the possibly outdated http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/virgi...aq-thread.html:

Points are redeemed for air travel based on the available fares on the flight on which you would like to travel. Every seat which is available for purchase is also available for redemption. The current rate of "exchange" between points and dollars depends upon day of travel. For all days other than Friday and Sunday, the rate is around $0.0215 of value per point. For example, if the one-way fare is $62 the number of points required to redeem is 2,884. This exchange rate (which is actually a small fraction under .0215) is consistent across all fares systemwide. For Friday and Sunday, the rate is around $0.0165 of value per point. Once a ticket is booked via redemption, it is like any other ticket in that you can upgrade it, cancel it or change it at the same dollar cost as normal.
So 15k points would be worth ~$322 on off-peak days.

The premium's waiver of change and cancellation fees is worth well over $149/yr to me. I plan to apply as soon as the links are active.

The 20k will get you a RT to LAX-HNL, almost RT LAX-LHR, almost RT LAS-LGW, etc. Take a look at VX partner redemptions.

Smile How does Virgin America CC compare to Virgin Atlantic CC?

How does Virgin America CC compare to Virgin Atlantic MC CC?

I did notice that the annual fee on "Black" Virgin Atlantic card is on $99 as compared to "Silver" Virgin America card's $149.

I am trying to compare the two airlines... seem so similar, yet so different.. probably because they are. Only thing resembling them is the name?

I plan to use Virgin mainly for traveling domestically in the U.S. (IAD-LAX) and if I do travel to Asia, I may use Korean Air, and occasionally, to Europe, mainly Virgin Atlantic...

Which card would you recommend? Virgin America's or Virgin Atlantic's?
