50K Offer

Not sure why it did not work for you. I just tried it again. Picked flights round trip JFK-HNL in January. Entered my name, DOB, gender, email, etc. Picked seats and when it asked about payment I clicked credit card. The 50k offer appeared.

The [somewhat] targeted 50k offer, does it have the annual fee waived the first year or not?

probably because I already have the card. thought I had closed it a couple of months back but when I went through my records I realized it was still open. Renewal fee is coming up next month so it is definitely time to cancel

Does Barclays clawback the anniversary bonus if you cancel after the AF posts and get a refund?

Barclays seems to hate me or they hate my churning ways. Only bank I can't get a card with.

How can I use HA miles if I don't plan to fly on HA or go to Hawaii? Can they be transferred to another airlines at a reasonable rate?

You can transfer to Hilton at a 1 to 1.5 ratio. So 50K HW = 75K HH

I guess going to Hawaii isn't so bad... It's a shame that partner flights can't be had for half the price for one way.

One of the better redemption options is flights with Korean Air within Asia. It's a niche focus, but it's a good cost option.

At 200k RT, I wouldn't call it a good cost option. But that entirely depends on how easily and how often HA cards can be gotten.

You're looking at the wrong section. I'm talking about within Asia. For example, you could go from Korea to Japan on Korean Airways for 30 000 round-trip in economy or 60 000 in business/first. Same for Japan to China or anywhere else KE flies within Asia.

Oooh... within Asia. Yea I see the value in it now, but it wouldn't benefit me much, mainly because I can't get one way at half the price.

Since this card is with Barclays, can you only apply for one every 180 days? That seemed to be how the US card worked, at least for me.

That's the rule of thumb. But I recently got a Choice card from them, then just 5 weeks later, to my surprise, they approved a Hawaiian card as well.

As for applying for a second Hawaiian card (i.e., while still having the first one open), I don't think Barclays would allow this (although they did back in the days of the US Airways card).
