Post devaluations, what is the best spending card?

With most credit cards and FF programs devaluing benefits this year, as we look to 2014 and beyond, what is the best card for daily spending? Say someone spends $40,000 a year on a card across a mix of travel, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Is it

Amex PRG
Chase Sapphire
Chase Freedom (Or Discover or any other major cashback card)
Barclays Arrival
Some other airline card
Etc

Say the user is NYC based and is agnostic about airlines/hotels (semi frequent flyer and will fly whatever airline is the cheapest)

as always, these topics are completely arbitrary and depend on the person...

I think that if you are not doing any MS, working towards a bonus, or a goal, then the best daily spending is a mixed bag of rotating and fixed category spending
fidelity amex -2 % or barclay arrival 2.2% if you redeem for travel
usbank flexperks if you redeem for travel
rotating:
mix of discover cash rewards, citi forward, and chase freedom.
Chase sapphire is hard to ignore if you will spend on travel.

as mentioned, this is general advice...not sure specific to you. Basically I would try to get 5% on everything and fall back to 2% on everything.

I keep things simple, and use Sapphire Preferred for all travel and dining, and SPG for everything else.

I use Chase points for Hyatt stays and Amtrak (4k points for NE Corridor is a steal, depending on the date). SPG is flexible enough that I can use it for anything else.

Not to mention there are probably 20 threads on this topic already....
