FlyerTalk Forums - Recommendations for future spending

Apologies if this should have gone into an existing thread. I'm looking at getting a card so I can earn something for my expenses. Taking a trip next Sat to Italy from the US and it would be nice to use the card while there. I'm also planning on picking up a new iPad next month and possibly selling my current digital camera and getting a new one so if I could earn some rewards on those purchases it would be great. Monthly expenses are typical gas, groceries, dining out occasionally, etc. My wife is also in grad school so there are those expenses as well. Any thoughts or cards I should look at?
