What does ARS & IDA mean? is it good if freeze ARS & IDA before apply credit card?
I see some bloggers mention about "to freeze ARS & IDA when they apply their credit cards." I really dont understand what does it mean? and how can I do it? is it good to freeze ARS & IDA before churing credit cards?

They are basically two other credit reporting agencies...apart from the regular three.
The Club Carlson card sometimes pulls these reports, and people find themselves getting denied because of some discrepancy in their ARS or IDA report. The complete instructions on how to go about freezing your reports is available here: http://hackmytrip.com/2013/06/freeze...-club-carlson/ His site is down right now, but give it a look once it's back up. |
Instructions are posted in the Club Carlson thread.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...n-renewal.html Generalized, it may be helpful to freeze ARS & IDA reports for any US Bank application. |
Somebody linked to yet another blog in that thread, which has the same information as hackmytrip.
http://freequentflyerbook.com/blog/2...k-credit-cards OP, you'll find all the information there, how to go about freezing IDA and ARS. A must before including any US Bank card in your AOR. |
No offense intended chrisj500,and maybe this is just me but I hate it when people say "check here" and then just link the whole damn thread.
In this case, going to that thread and searching for IDA and ARS gives the appropriate and needed result...But often it's next to useless when the keywords are rather generic, and the thread is a mega thread going on for hundreds of pages. |
Other than US Bank, any other bank use these two agencies?

Or in this particular case, look at the wiki post at the very beginning of that thread.
Apologies. |

My ARS report contained references from BofA (FIA), Citi, and Chase, National City (PNC), and US Bank.
My report had references from them as well. But I've applied for cards from Chase, Citi and BofA after freezing ARS and IDA and gotten approved without a problem. Wonder if anyone's been denied because of a frozen IDA or ARS report... |

Yeah, but I don't think they "use" ARS, if you know what I mean.

Wonder if anyone's been denied because of a frozen IDA or ARS report... I havent heard of anyone getting denied for having them frozen. I froze them before i applied for my latest club carlson card. It cost me a few bucks to freeze and if it leads to even one more approval than i would otherwise get, then it was 10 min well spent |

Or do you mean the cost of postage? |
I froze my IDA and ARS and got instant approval on both personal and biz Club Carlson cards. And my credit isn't the greatest due to high credit util and being a youngster with short credit history.

My guess based on reading every post in the Carlson thread would be no. But every once in a while someone reports that they have lots of apps and still get approved. The number one thing US BANK denies for is "too many new accounts or too many Inqs" in the last year.
I got instant approval for the club carlson card and here is my list Jan 2012 - Amex HH Feb 2012 - BofA & BofH HA May 2012 - Chase UA Club, Citi HH July 2012 - Chase BA Sept 2012 - CIti HH x2, AMex Surpass Jan 2013 - Amex SPG, Citi AA x2, Barclay USAir Feb 2013 - Chase UA Exp, AMex PRG April 2013 - Chase CSP May 2013 - Citi Reserve June 2013 - Chase UA Exp BIZ July 2013 - Citi AA x 2 (yep, 4 AA cards in 1 year) Aug 2013 - Amex SPG BIZ Sept 2013 - Club Carlson So.. as you can see, it is possible since I haven't really followed any logic or done AORs that well and still get approved for almost everything I apply for |

Anyone noticed that ID:Analytics seems to be a wholly owned subsidiary of LifeLock?
From http://www.idanalytics.com/company/ "ID Analytics, Inc., a leader in enterprise identity risk management — with advanced science — that provides unprecedented visibility into identity risk and credit worthiness, is a wholly owned subsidiary of LifeLock, Inc." |

Any idea how many inquiries in 12 months is too many for US Bank approval? And is 12 months typically the window "looked at" by most banks for this purpose?

Does freezing these two want-to-be-bureaus help with applying for non-US Bank cards?

It varies from bank to bank. The only one I'm familiar with in exact numbers is that Citi counts the last 6 months, and typically wants no more then 6 inquiries (on which bureau[s] it pulls) during that time (ie, it tends to reject you if there are 7).

A year ago, I got the Club Carlson personal Visa card. A couple of months later, US Bank solicited me for a business card (not the Club Carlson one). I figured "hey, if they want me to have a biz card, too, let me apply for the Club Carlson one." I did, and they then rejected me for having too many applications!
I haven't thought about it too much since then. I don't really NEED the Club Carlson biz card, but it would be nice to have for the sizeable sign-up bonus -- and the renewal bonus (along with the renewal bonus for my personal card) would provide a steady stream of annual cheap hotel nights (so long as the program rules don't dramatically change). Considering I was rejected before -- and my overall credit card churning habits haven't changed -- I'm wondering if I should freeze ARS and IDA and apply again for the Carlson biz card. I'm not too familiar with freezing credit card reports: is there ANY downside to doing this? |
