120 days *from* definition - CC insurance

I have the Capital One World Delta (Canada) card. On March 8th 2013 4:11PM I purchased a Mac. Today, July 6th 2013 at around 7:30am I spilled liquids on it and ruined it. I made a claim with the credit card insurance immediately thereafter. The insurance provides for 120 days from the day of purchase full loss against damage. My claim is on that really weird definition of what 120 days is. Counting the 8th as day 0, today would be day 120 so it is covered. If you take a day to be 24 hours, and it is 120 days from the time of purchase, then the insurance would end today at 4:11PM and I would be covered. If it's 120 days counting day of purchase as day 1, and ending at midnight, I'm lost on day 121. I called the insurance company and they couldn't give me an answer. I'm leaning toward the definition of a day as 24hours from the time of purchase.

What do you think? I'm really worried I might be out 1500$

Why are you counting from the 8th day? Is that the day the macbook was delivered? Or the day the charge posted?

It would be 120 days from the day the charge posted.

Don't know how much leeway Capital One offers. But have you called already?

Sorry, it's not the 8th day, rather 'March 8th.' The charge posted March 8th.

They're not going to count it from the hour, minute and second that you made the purchase.
If today is the 120th day, then you're covered till the end of the day.

SO, today being the 120th day (I didn't verify that :p), as long as you called them up to initiate the claim, you should be fine.

If you haven't done it yet, then do it ASAP. If you can initiate it online, then do so. If not, and you have to call, then call.
If the call center is closed and they let you leave a voicemail, then do that.
If not, then call the regular customer support number and have them notate your account explaining the problem.

Also shoot them an email detailing the situation and the problem.

You can find the actual terms here:
http://www.capitalone.ca/media/doc/c...ZZ_ZZ_T_DWRL29

It's still not clear, but note that it doesn't cover items shipped to you until you accept them, so it might seem sensible that the day you received the mac is treated as your purchase date.

Also, I think the day you purchased the item doesn't count. If the coverage was for 1 day, it wouldn't end at midnight on the day of purchase (that would never provide you with a full day of coverage).

Regardless, file the claim, by calling them immediately, and filling out the paperwork carefully. Make sure to give them something to satisfy this requirement:

(iv) a police, fire, insurance claim
or loss report and/or other
report of the occurrence of
the loss sufficient for
determination of eligibility
for the benefits hereunder
