Credit score impact when "downgrading" a card?

Perhaps "downgrading" isn't really the right word. I currently have an Amex Blue Cash Preferred that I'd like to replace with a Blue Cash Everyday (to avoid the annual fee). Would this decrease my credit score? If so, how does that decrease compare to the impact of just canceling the card outright?

No, it doesn't.

What will potentially hurt your score is losing the available credit. Keep the credit line.
